Inuman.ro main objective is to create broad community awareness and citizen action to diminish human trafficking of vulnerable people. We wish to prove that slavery is not a closed chapter in history, on the contrary, the official reports of the US State Department and of the European Union show that Romania remains a primary source for sex and labor trafficking victims in Europe, and the majority of them are minors.

The 2019 U.S. State Department Trafficking Report states Romania remains a primary source for sex and labor trafficking victims in Europe.

Traffickers subject men, women and children to labor and sex trafficking in agriculture, construction, hotels, manufacturing, domestic service, forced begging and theft in Romania and Europe. Minors represent 50 percent of the victims.

86,000 Romanians are victims of modern slavery according to the Global Slavery Index 2018. The index also shows that Romania is 19th in ranking among the countries of Europe and Central Asia.
